A Day at the Cleveland Metropark Zoo

If you ever have a free Monday and you’re a Cuyahoga County resident in Cleveland, a great place to spend it is at the Cleveland Metropark Zoo.

Thats what my sister and I did this past Monday. I had come home from her fiancée’s bachelor part trip and was planning on recovering, but she suggested we go. Going to be honest, the zoo is one of my favorite places in the world. We have been going there at least once a year for as long as I can remember. I even spent my thirtieth birthday at the zoo. We got there around 10:30 and the place was empty. Normally on Mondays you have to park very far away from the entrance and walk, but because of the looming rainclouds, we got a nice spot right up by the front door. It literally rained ten minutes after we got there, but we didn’t care, and the animals seemed to be enjoying the reprieve from the heat and humidity. First stop is of course the lions, my favorite animals there, then the elephants and the kangaroos. We got to see the infant black rhinoceros that was born in July and all the rest of the animals as we strolled through the part. It was a nice break and always a highlight when you visit.
